Required English skills
Proof of sufficient English language skills
Applicants for the following degree programmes are obliged to prove that they have a sufficient level of English. As a rule there are various options for proving this:
Animation and Game
- Level B2 (completed) according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
- A “satisfactory” grade C or higher in English on your most recent certificate
- Equivalent knowledge
Information Law (Informationsrecht)
- TOEFL: Minimum score of 57
- TOEIC: Minimum score of 479
- telc: English B1/B1 Business certificate or higher
- Cambridge ESOL: BEC, PET certificate or higher
- IELTS: Minimum score of 5
- LCCI: EFB certificate Level 2 or higher
- UNIcert: Min. level 1
Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (MSE)
- TOEFL: Minimum total score 88
- IELTS: Minimum score of 6.5 (no subtests with less than 6 points)
Industrial Engineering (M.Sc.)
- B2 certificate according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
- TOEFL: Minimum total score of 80
- IELTS: Minimum score of 6.0
- TELC certificate level B2 (for business or technical purposes)
- Cambridge English: Business Vantage (BEC Vantage) – CEFR Level B2
- Business Higher (BEC Higher) – CEFR Level C1
- B2 certificate of Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences
Other certificates may be accepted if they are recognised as equivalent.
