How to apply
Enrollment of international applicants (summer term 2020)
Due to the current situation with the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, personal enrollment is no longer possible. We must proceed as follows:
In this case you can exceptionally send us the following documents in scanned form by e-mail:
- the completed and signed data sheet (including a valid postal adress in Germany*)
- Your DSH certificate (**German language examination for university admission)
- proof of health insurance for enrolment at the university
- if you have already studied in Germany: All certificates of study from the universities you have attended, stating the semesters you studied at the university and the semesters of leave.
- University changers within the same degree programme: Certificate of no objection
- a copy of your passport
If you meet all requirements for enrollment, you will be enrolled for the summer semester 2020.
*Student ID cards and access data will only be sent by mail to the specified valid postal address in Germany!
**If, due to the current situation, you have only completed the written part of the DSH exam and the oral part has been cancelled, you can exceptionally enrol with the incomplete certificate. The certificate must be presented to the SSC by the end of this summer semester at the latest.
Unfortunately, in this case you cannot be enrolled for the summer term 2020. However, your admission remains valid for the winter term 2020/21. Should you then wish to begin your studies, please send us an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org so that we can issue you with an updated letter of admission.
Please note the registration deadlines on your admission notice!
Applying with international school-leaving or university certificates
There is a separate application process for students applying with foreign credentials, regardless of their citizenship.
Specific academic qualifications are required to study at an institute of higher education in Germany. Formal admission criteria are the same throughout Germany and are based on the specifications of the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZaB) located in Bonn, as well as the Hessian Ministry for Science and the Arts. In its anabin database, ZaB publishes information on how school and educational qualifications are evaluated. This information is currently available in German only.
The application procedure depends on the individual program. For some programs, you have to apply through Uni-Assist, some other programs allow a direct application at the faculty. Please check the corresponding webpage of the program for the correct application process.
